James "Jim" Oriet

James Jim Oriet, 49, of Pinedale, WY and formerly of Tracy, a petroleum engineer, died of pulmonary embolism on Friday, December 21, 2012 at a Great Falls hospital.A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel. A burial of ashes will occur at a later date.Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.Jim was born January 4, 1963 in Great Falls to Jack and Barbara Oriet. He was raised in Tracy, MT and graduated from Centerville High School in 1981. He excelled in all sports and was selected to play in the East/West Shriner game. He went to college at Montana Tech where he played football and earned a degree in Petroleum Engineering when he graduated in 1986.He was married in Las Vegas to Rita Slaugh in 1992. They divorced in 2001.Jim worked for Halliburton and McMurray Oil/Energy for a number of years. He then was president of Stim-Tech Inc, growing the company from two to sixty employees. Stim-Tech pioneered expert consulting in all aspects of stimulation, cementing, and completion engineering of natural gas/oil wells. He was the co-founder of Wind River Brewing Company in Pinedale, WY famous for world award winning gold medal beers and home of the first canning line in Wyoming.He loved golf, racquetball, riding his Harley, traveling, football, basketball, playing cribbage, and taking care of his family and friends. He played fantasy football and watched the Minnesota Vikings, especially Adrian Peterson. He played in community league basketball games and golf tournaments and was an avid fan of the Utah Jazz.Jim is survived by his special friend Kim OConnor of Pinedale, WY; daughter Kaila Oriet of Rock Springs, WY; brothers Joe Oriet of Sheridan, WY, Mike Oriet of Tampa, FL, and Paul Oriet of Stockett; nieces Trista Lasilla, Wendy Nguyen, and Rachel Brumit; nephews Kyle Oriet, NathanRolfs,Chris Rolfs, and Daniel Oriet.He was preceded in death by his mother Barbara Oriet; father Jack Oriet; and a brother David Rolfs.Condolences for the family can be posted at www.schniderfuneralhome.com.
