James Eugene Huber, 80, of Great Falls, a retired car salesman, banker and US Navy veteran, died on Friday, February 1, 2013 at a local care center of natural causes.A vigil service will be held at St. Josephs Chapel on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. A funeral liturgy will also be held at St. Josephs Chapel on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Inurnment in Mount Olivet will be scheduled at a later date. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.James Eugene Huber was born on March 13, 1932 to Otto Sonny and Mary Hansen Huber in Great Falls. He graduated from Great Falls High in 1950 where he played on the 1948 and 1949 championship football teams. He went to the College of Great Falls for two years before enlisting in the US Navy as an Aviation Electronics Technician. He served in San Diego, CA; Brunswick, ME; and Memphis, TN before being honorably discharged in March 1955. After his discharge he continued his education at Montana State College where he received his Bachelors Degree in Mathematics.He married Patricia Harney in Great Falls on June 27, 1964.Jim was employed at First National Bank and First Westside National Bank as a banker. He then went to work at Dick Grieb Buick where he was a salesman and sales manager. He finished his career at Bison Ford where he retired in March 1994.He was a participant in the Junior Achievement program; a member of the Elks, Knights of Columbus, and a Charter member of the Westside Optimists; and a longtime member of St. Lukes Parish.Jim loved playing golf and worked as a caddy at the Meadowlark Country Club as a teenager. He loved people and never met a stranger.The family requests that you remember to be good to yourself and others as a legacy to Jims life.Jim is survived by his wife Pat Huber of Great Falls; a daughter, Leanne Huber of Great Falls; sons Jim (Debbie) Huber of Dillon and Mike Huber of Missoula; a sister, Sandra (Larry) Craig of Portland, OR; four grandchildren, Brad Huber, Renae Heisler, Nick Huber, and Lindsey Huber; three nieces; and two nephews.He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Hansen Huber; father Otto Sonny Huber; a brother, John Huber; and a nephew, Brian Craig.In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Great Falls Rescue Mission, 326 2nd Ave S, Great Falls, MT 59405, or a charity of the donors choice.
