James Michael Carr

November 2, 1941 — April 26, 2021

James “Jim” Carr, age 79, passed away from Alzheimers and complications from Covid-19 in the early morning hours of Monday, April 26, 2021, at Rivers Edge Assisted Living in Great Falls. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Jim was born on November 2, 1941, in Decatur, IL to Marion and Norma Carr. He attended Great Falls High School, joining the Navy in January, 1959. His ship sailed the Panama Canal during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He married Sande Denny in 1970, and they had two children together. Jim and Sande divorced in 1979. Jim met Sheryl Secora in 1986, and they married in 1988. During their almost 35 years together they spent many summers, camping and packing on horseback into the Bob Marshall Wilderness and many other areas of Montana.They were able to travel to Arizona, Mexico, Hawaii and Alaska. Over the years Jim had many ranch jobs, worked at Formicove Kitchens, Nucor Steel, and retired from the City of Great Falls Housing Authority on April 30, 2002. Jim is remembered for his beautiful smile, laugh, great hugs, and bright blue eyes. He loved to joke, dance, and spend time with his many friends and family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Jim was preceded in death by his mother and step-father; father and step-mother; sister, Jeannie, and numerous in-laws. Jim is survived by his wife, Sheryl; son, Trent; daughter, Bryn; Grandsons, Savon Carr, Ky-Myie Crawley, Cody Cox, and James Carr; Granddaughter, Alisa Cox; and great-grandson, Indreni Carr. He is also survived by brothers-in-law Rick (Pam) and Terry Secora; sister-in law, Shanna (Mike) Chism; nieces, Shirley, Darci, Rachel, Megan, and Kimberly; loving nephews, Toby, Lee, Branden, and Chayse; and best friend of nearly 60 years, Tom McAllister. Jim would like anyone attending the service to wear western apparel or casual clothing – he just wasn’t a fancy guy!
