Irma Mae Nygard, 101, of Great Falls, a homemaker, died of natural causes on Monday, December 17, 2012 at a local care facility.Viewing will be held on Friday, December 21, 2012 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Schnider Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December, 22, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Lawn Mausoleum. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.Irma was born July 10, 1911 in Halsua, Finland and came at the age of nine with her mother and brother to her dads homestead outside of Big Sandy. She went to Mackton and Coal Creek country schools through the eighth grade. She married Julius Nygard on July 13, 1926 in Cody, Wyoming. They lived on a farm and operated a coal mine until 1945 when the family moved to Great Falls.She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church and auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars. Irma was blessed to celebrate her 100th birthday in 2011 with family and friends.Irma is survived by her daughter Lillian Johnson of Colorado Springs, CO; her sons Edward Nygard of Juneau, AK; Emil Nygard and wife Doris of Great Falls; and John Nygardand wife Susan of Tacoma, WA; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband Julius Nygard and great-great grandson Shaun Reiter; daughter-in-law Shirley Nygard,; son-in-law Marvin Johnson; sister Saima Tuomi; and brothers Leo and Gothart Tuomi.Memorials are suggested to St. Johns Lutheran Church or donors choice.Condolences may be left for the family at www.schniderfuneralhome.com.
