Iris Myrtle (Whitehorn) Halvorson, 90, of Great Falls, passed away November 17, 2017. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Iris M. (Whitehorn) Halvorson, 90, of Great Falls, passed away November 17, 2017. Iris was born August 14, 1927 in Great Falls, MT to Chester and Georgia Whitehorn.She was raised on the family farm. She completed training for secretarial and bookkeeping which she did for most of her working life. She worked for Monarch Lumber Co., Ken Boggs Chevrolet, and retired from Norwest/Wells Fargo Bank and the Great Falls Public Library. She also worked as a Foster Grandparent at Lewis and Clark Elementary. She enjoyed music. In her early years, she taught dancing and continued playing piano until her fingers no longer cooperated. She loved riding horses, playing piano, dancing, reading, puzzles, and being with her family. Iris was married to and divorced from Roland C. (Hal) Halvorson and had one child. Iris is survived by her daughter, Georgi-Anna Meier, and son-in-law Jeff Meier, andgrandchildren, Jakob and Lukas Meier and her brother, Wayne Whitehorn. and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Stan and Wallace Whitehorn and sisters, Elva Gessaman, Bernice Skaw, Clara Walker, and Virginia Wiederhold. Donations can be made in her honor to the Great Falls Public Library.
