Irene K. Motil, 95, of Great Falls and formerly of Stockett, passed away April 16, 2016.The vigil service will be Friday, April 22, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Anns Cathedral. The funeral liturgy will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anns Cathedral. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.Irene was born on November 25, 1920 in Stockett, Montana to Joseph and Mary (Levandowski) Kapstafer on Thanksgiving Day. She went to elementary school in Stockett and graduated from Centerville High School in 1938. She worked her way through college for the first two years and started her teaching career in 1941 at Red Butte School. She then taught for one year at Ulm, three years at Cooney School, and finally in 1946 she started teaching in Stockett where she retired in May of 1986. She received her Bachelors Degree in 1957 from UGF.She married Frank Motil at St. Cyrils and Methodius Catholic Church on June 28, 1947 in Stockett.Irene was a parishioner of St. Anns Cathedral for many years. She was also a member of the Montana Teachers Association.She loved pinching cheeks and many remember this loving gesture fondly. She loved music and played the sax, piano, accordion and organ. She started her kitchen band at the Golden Eagle Plaza, entertaining many while she was there. She also enjoyed knitting and embroidery crossword and find a word puzzles.Irene is survived by her sister-in-law, Pat Kapstafer and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Frank; brothers Edward and Earl; and sisters Sophie and Rosalie.Memorials in Irenes name are suggested to the Frank and Irene Motil UGF Scholarship Fund, 1301 20th St S, Great Falls, MT 59405.
