Hulda Linquist McClure, 91, a homemaker, of Great Falls, died on Sunday, January 29, 2012 of natural causes at a local care facility.No services are planned at this time. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Schnider Funeral Home.Hulda was born April 20, 1920 in Oak Park, Illinois. She was orphaned in 1923 while on a trip through Montana. She was placed in Shodair Orphanage in Helena and was adopted from there by August and Anna Linquist of Barber, Montana. She grew-up in Barber and lived on a dry land farm three miles south of town. As a teenager, she loved music and played the accordion and harmonica in a band in the Ryegate, Montana area. In 1940, she and her parents sold the farm and moved to Arlee, Montana. In 1945, Hulda met and married Howard McClure also of Arlee. They later divorced. She moved with her parents to Portland, Oregon and later to Medford, Oregon. In Medford, Oregon, she worked in the peach orchards and at the Bear Creek Canary. In 1960, Hulda moved back to Missoula, Montana; then in 1972, she moved to Great Falls to live near her son and his family.Hulda was a 50 year member of the Vassa Lodge of Portland, OR and a member of First Baptist Church of Great Falls. She had lived at the Soroptomist Village in Great Falls for the last 15 years.Hulda is survived by her son, Roy McClure; grandchildren, Christopher McClure, Emily Mcnaight, Anna Ray, all of Great Falls and Sarah McClure of Los Angeles, CA; great grandchildren, Jasmine McClure of Missoula and Kale Mcnaight of Great Falls.
