Howard W. Jones

Howard W. Jones passed away on March 9, 2023. He was 88.

Howard was born September 19, 1934, in Edmore, ND to Robert and Mary Ouellette Jones. They moved to Montana when he was 16 and he went to work for the Great Northern Railroad. He then worked for the Anaconda Company for 26 years as a painter until they closed in 1980. He worked 19 years for the City of Great Falls as a laborer for the Public Works Department.

Hunting, horses, and country music were some of his favorite things in life. Snowmobiling and four-wheeling were also important to him. For years he enjoyed helping friends with cattle drives and branding. Restoring old cars and tractors was also a passion of his. Although his personality traits tended to be quiet, he was a doer and a goer.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Janella; sons, Robert (Lori) Jones, and Wayne (Shelly) Jones; daughters, Vicky Jones, Lisa McAllister, and Jana (Steve) Weaver. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews who were special to him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and three sisters.

There will be a celebration of life at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel on Friday, March 17, 2023, at 2:00 p.m.
