Harry Severson

Harry Leroy Severson, 78, of Great Falls, died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at a local senior living facility.A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.Harry was born on January 9, 1936 in Conrad, Montana to Melvin and Josephine Severson. He grew up in Brady, Montana, one of ten children. He was an avid basketball player in high school. After high school he joined the Montana Air National Guard.Harry married Jeannette M. Janikula in 1968 and raised 4 children.He worked for the Air National Guard for 38 years as a carpenter. He loved to be outdoors, hunting and fishing with friends. Later in his married life, he and his wife joined the local square dancing group and spent many years with friends on the dance floor. He enjoyed his weekly breakfast get togethers with other retirees.Harry, along with three of his other siblings suffered from Alzheimers Disease, but that didn't stop him from smiling, laughing, and enjoying his life moments. He was a great husband, father, grandfather and will be truly missed by his family and friends that knew him.Harry is survived by his daughter, Christine of Billings; sons Greg Severson of Washington and Jason Severson of Great Falls; and 4 grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannette and son, Randy Severson.The family wishes to thank the Highgate Senior Living for such wonderful care they gave him while he lived there.
