Harrison “Harry” Tempel Bliss, 90, of Red Lodge, Montana, passed away on August 19, 2024. He was born on May 11, 1934, in Great Falls, Montana to Harrison and Bernice Bliss.
Harry was a beloved husband, father and brother. He is survived by his wife, Karen; children, Harrison Bliss and Laurel (Robert) Placido; grandchildren, Kira (Matthew) Spence, Torin Placido, Harrison Bliss, and Keelin Placido; stepchildren, Todd (Angelique) Reick and Tonya Hunt; siblings, Robert (Velvet) Bliss, Bernadine Molen, Ethelyn (Jim) Wilson, John (Becca) Bliss, Luella Schultz, and Bill (Renee) Bliss; as well as many nieces and nephews. Harry’s brother, James Bliss, passed away on August 19th as well, just hours after Harry. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles Bliss; and sister, Clarissa Morris.
Harry grew up on the family farm/ranch on the Ashuelot Bench and graduated from Fairfield High School. He went on to study at Montana State University until he was drafted into the Army during the Korean War. After his military service, he made his way to Colorado Springs where he worked as a computer programmer for Kaman Sciences and started a computer business that provided data processing services to county governments. After he retired, he moved back to Montana and settled on the West Bench of Roberts, Montana.
Harry had a passion for gun collecting, bullet making, Volvo cars, the mountains, dogs, horses and his mule, Calliope.
Harry’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be remembered for his kindness and “fair to middlin” catchphrase.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Schnider Funeral Home in Great Falls. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Sun River Cemetery.
