Harold Hofmann, 92, of Great Falls, passed away March 9, 2015.No services are planned at this time. He will be interred at Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis, Missouri at a later date.Harold was born July 25, 1922 in St. Louis, Missouri to Arthur and Edna Hofmann. He graduated from Central High School. Harold married Betty, his wife of 64 years on June 12, 1948 and they had a son, James Arthur Hofmann.Harold joined the Army Air Corps serving in WWII where he flew with the 5th Bomb Group (Heavy). He then served with the Air Force in the Korean War. During his service, Harold was stationed in Germany, England, numerous bases in the Pacific Ocean region, and in the United States. He retired as a SMSgt from the Air Force on Oct. 31, 1965. Harold was a lifetime member and former Post Commander of the American Legion Post #3. He was one of the founders, lifetime member and former President of the 5th Bomb Group (Heavy) Association. After retiring from the Air Force, he owned and operated Falls Hydralic Jack Service from 1965 to his retirement in 1990.Harold and Betty enjoyed the Great Falls Electrics baseball team. Harold drove the bus for the team, never missing a convention or outing. The American Legion was a huge part of Harold and Bettys life they were both active members and she was particularly active with Ladies Auxiliary.Harold is survived by son James (Brenda); grandsons James Jr. and Samuel of Saluda, VA; and brother Art (Ruth) of St. Louis, MO.He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Edna; beloved wife, Betty; twin sisters, Dorthy (Harlin) Hoeschler and Ruth (Bucky Willard) Hanser; and brother Earl (Deloras).In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Montana Veteran's Memorial, PO Box 3524, Great Falls, MT 59403.
