Harold Eugene Hasenkrug, 84, of Great Falls, a retired police officer, died of Alzheimers Monday, November 28, 2011, at Cambridge Court.Visitation will be held at Hillcrest Lawn Chapel on Friday, December 2, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.A vigil service will follow.Funeral Liturgy will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.Harold was born on July 30, 1927, in Spokane, Washington and raised Great Falls, Montana and in Grand Junction Colorado.He graduated from high school in Grand Junction, CO; attended college in York, NE and at the College of Great Falls.During Harolds lifetime he worked at Hasenkrugs Locksmith on Central Avenue, the Anaconda Smelter in Black Eagle, and Buttreys department store for ten years.In 1957, Harold joined the Great Falls Police Department.He served as a police officer for 24 years and retired at the rank of Lieutenant.For many years Harold operated an amusement park and a concession stand at Giant Springs.Harold was a good, honest, hard working Christian father and husband.His main interests in life were his children and family, and he provided a safe and loving home.He was an excellent carpenter and built his own house. Harold built clocks and cabinets and he could fix anything.He was extremely clever.He was a big game hunter and a good fisherman.He was also an excellent gardener and loved feeding and watering the birds and squirrels.Survivors include his wife Mary Hasenkrug of Great Falls; daughters Debbie (spouse, Dave) Bowen of Bellevue, WA, Kathy (Ed) Forsman, Vernal, UT, and Linda (Bob) Dykeman Canby, OR; sons Kim (Marie Anne) Hasenkrug of Victor, MT and Rick (Deb) Hasenkrug of Great Falls, and ten grandchildren: Heather Bowen, Jayme Bowen, Aaron Hasenkrug, Michaela Hasenkrug, Jen Forsman, Amy Forsman, Chad Hasenkrug, Tyler Hasenkrug, Brian Dykeman and Stephanie Dykeman.He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Anton Hasenkrug and Pearl Ackerman Sommerville; a brother, Martin Hasenkrug; a stepsister Mildred, and several step brothers.Memorials are suggested to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School, 409 13th St. S., Great Falls, MT 59405.
