Harland Glenn Chenoweth died on October 1, 2014 in the loving arms of his family at the age of 91.A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.Harland was born on April 8, 1923 in Barrett, Minnesota. He was adopted as a child and raised in Scobey, MT. He graduated from high school in 1941. He was in the Army with an anti-aircraft unit during World War II until March 1946. On November 26, 1947, Harland married Marie Larson, his wife of 67 years. To this union was born three sons and a daughter; Larry Chenoweth (deceased), Lynn (Tammie) Chenoweth of Clancy, MT, Jim Chenoweth and Susan (Dave) Baker both of Great Falls. He also has seven grandsons, two granddaughters, and a great-grandson, all of whom he was very proud. In 1991, he and Marie moved to Great Falls to be closer to family.Harland spent 31 years in the abstract and title insurance business, working in Scobey, Billings and Havre. He retired from Hill County Title Company in 1984.He served as treasurer and recording secretary for many years at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Havre.Harland loved music all of his life. He sang in the Scobey and Havre church choirs, and played in several dance bands, including the Stardusters of Scobey. He played the saxophone, and also sang his heart out. He was proud of the fact that he knew all the words to over 500 songs from the WWII era. His favorite songs were Stardust and Moonlight Serenade. Most of all, Harland dearly loved his family. His children, grandchildren and great-grandson were his most pride and joy.He was preceded in death by his parents; son Larry; two half-sisters; and a half-brother.Harland will be deeply missed, but he is with the Lord now making a joyful noise unto the Lord.
