Harlan G. Soholt, 87, was born on April 13, 1932, to Hans and Gladys Soholt in Mayville, ND. Harlan served in the Navy from 1951 until 1953. His first job was at Cargill Elevator in Sarles, ND, where he met and married Gloria Dillabough on August 7, 1958. They had four children, Jerry, Linden, John, and Merri. Harlan transferred to Grandin, ND, where he managed the Cargill Elevator for two years, then transferred to Minot, ND, and managed the Cargill elevator there for four years. He was then transferred to Brady, MT to manage the Cargill elevator for seven years. Harlan’s last transfer was to Wolf Point, MT, where he retired in 1995. Harlan was a lifetime member of Belt VFW and a member of the American Legion in Conrad. Harlan and Gloria stayed in Wolf Point until Gloria retired from J.C. Penney Co. In 2000, they moved to Belt where they built a summer home, and they would winter in Arizona. Harlan was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ardis; and his eldest son, Jerry. He is survived by brothers, Ernie, Ray, David, and Lynn; sister, Dorothy; wife Gloria; as well as children, Linden, John, and Merri; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Harlan was laid to rest on April 1, 2020, with a military salute and a private graveside service at Highland Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
