Harland Rockwell (Doc) Hansen, 89, of Great Falls, a retired implement dealer owner, died on Thursday, July 5, 2012 of natural causes at a local hospice facility.A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 9th, 2012 at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel.Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.Harland (Doc) Hansen was born in Great Falls, Montana to Jonas and Tallie Hansen of Raynesford, Montana.He graduated from Great Falls High School in 1942.He married Shirley Salo in 1946 and moved to Cascade.They moved to Great Falls in 1948.Harland worked for Edmonsen Realty, H.C. Grinde Company and Gus and Jacks Tire Shop.He purchased H.R. Hansen Implement Company in 1959 and retired from the implement business in 2002.Harland was a charter member of Bethel Lutheran Church and served on the board of trustees for 35 years.He is a member of Belt Lodge AF & AM #137, Scottish Rite, Algeria Shrine Temple, Honorary Knights of Scotland, Eagles Lodge, plus a member of Cascade Chapter OES #101.Harland served two terms as master of Belt Masonic Lodge.He was President of the Great Falls Implement Dealers Association. Harland is survived by his wife, Phyllis Hansen; a daughter Jan Thon and John Cloninger of Kalispell; a son Layne (Cathy) Hansen of Naches, Washington; grandson Kyle Hansen of Salt Lake City, Utah; granddaughter Kirsten Hansen of Miyoshi City, Japan.He is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Hansen; son Kern Galand; and a brother, Wendell Hansen.Harland was blessed throughout his life with great friends and a supportive community.Stop and have a cup of coffee and think of him.One of the blessings his last years was his wife, Phyllis.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Scottish Rite Language Center, 1304 13th St. So., Great Falls, MT59405 or a charity of your choice.
