Guy F. Huestis

June 10, 1950 — June 6, 2015

Guy F. Huestis passed away peacefully at his home early Saturday morning, June 6, with many family members and loved ones near.Guy was diagnosed with ALS a year ago today. His strength had been steadily declining, and he was overcome with pneumonia, from which he was not able to recover. He fought valiantly, but in the end was mercifully delivered from much more severe health problems down the road.Guy was born in Great Falls on June 10, 1950. He graduated from Great Falls High in 1968, and went on to Washington State University on a full-ride basketball scholarship. While there, he met and instantly fell in love with his soon-to-be wife, Deborah Huestis (Thompson). Guy and Debbie were married while still in school, and had their first son, Jason Huestis, while living in married student housing. Guy finished his degree in Civil Engineering (soon becoming a licensed PE), and immediately returned to Great Falls to go work at Falls Construction with his father, Guy Jr., and brother, Dan. Guy worked there his entire career, first learning the ropes from Dan, and eventually becoming President and sole owner. His two sons, Jason and Harley, joined him after college, and they spent many good years working together. Guy was a hard worker, and truly enjoyed his work, mostly because of the people he worked with, for whom he had a deep respect and admiration. But Guy's true love was reserved for his family - his wife Debbie, his two sons and daughters-in-law (Debra and Jaime), and recently his four grandchildren - Bree (10), John (10), Ella (7), and Audrey (4). Those kids meant the world to him, and he would do anything for them. He spent as much time with them as he could - never missing a game, recital, birthday, etc., right up until the end. He also loved his siblings, Dan (Lora), Harriet (Max) Yandt, and Sally (Russ) Frerichs, all his nieces and nephews and their kids also, never missing a chance to see them.Guy was preceded in death by his parents, Guy Huestis, Jr. and Genevieve Huestis (Clary). He is survived by his wife, two children and four grandchildren.Guy knew his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, growing closer to Him this last year, and made strong statements of faith. We trust he is in Heaven now, free from pain, and enjoying every second until we see him again.A memorial service will be at First Presbyterian Church at 1:00 p.m. in Great Falls following the 10:30 a.m. burial at Highland Cemetery on Wednesday, June 10, 2015.
