GlennGlenn George Durr, (87) of Great Falls, a retired pastor and U.S. Army veteran, passed peacefully into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at a local nursing home of natural causes.Visitation is Wednesday, March 14, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Schnider Funeral Home. A celebration of his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Grace Baptist Church. Burial with military honors will follow at Manchester Cemetery. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.Glenn was born to Albert and Bertha Durr on September 17, 1924 in Bucyrus, Ohio where he grew up and attended school.He graduated College Preparatory Course from Bucyrus High School in 1942.In April of 1943 he was drafted into the United States Army.It was during his basic training in Fort Knox, Kentucky, while listening to a gospel radio broadcast that he made a commitment of himself to the Lord Jesus Christ.Glenn fondly recalled the time he stood with the 400th Armored Field Battalion in front of General George Patton to be reviewed.After serving his country Glenn attended Bob Jones College in Tennessee and graduated from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois in April, 1950.He established City Bible Church in Bucyrus, Ohio and later became the associate pastor at Billings Bible Church in Billings, Montana.It was there that he met the love of his life, Ruth Phillips Westbrook and her beautiful daughter, Katherine.He married Ruth on June 15, 1952 and adopted her daughter as his own.Glenn and Ruth had four more children, a son, Timothy and a daughter, Phylis who both died in infancy and a son, Phillip and a daughter, Deborah who are living.Glenns service to the Lord included pastoring in Ashland, MT; Decker, MT; Manhattan, MT; Malta, MT; associate pastor of Wayside Chapel in Bucyrus, Ohio; Pastor at Community Church in Wolf Point, MT; Interim Pastorat Grace Baptist in Great Falls, MT; interim pastor in Cut Bank, MT and Country Bible Church in Augusta, MT.Glenn loved to read and make notes in his Bible.He would read them until they were worn out and then pass them along to his children, a treasure they hold dear to their hearts. He loved to talk about Jesusespecially to the staff at Missouri River Manor where he lived after suffering a stroke in March of 2005.He loved to tinker in his shop and loved to go treasure hunting at the local thrift stores.He also enjoyed spending time on his computer.Glenn is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Ruth; his son Phillip Durr of Redmond, WA; daughters Katherine (Charles) Brown and Deborah (Armando) Davila, all of Great Falls; grandchildren Stefan (Laura) Brown, Naomi Brown, Samantha Durr, Nicholas Sand, Brandon Sand; great-granddaughter Jade Rose Sand; and a brother, Spencer Durr of Lakewood, WA.He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Phylis Durr; a son, Timothy Durr; son-in-law Rodney Sand; and grandchildren Tanya, Justin and Cameron Brown.Memorials are suggested to Grace Baptist Church, 3525 1st Ave. No., Great Falls, MT 59401 for the sound system and power point or to Gideons International, PO Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214-0800.Condolences may be left for the family at www.schniderfuneralhome.com.
