Gerald V. Knote, 89, of Great Falls, a retired construction worker passed away on Friday, June 29, 2012, of natural causes at a local care facility.A funeral service will be held at Westside Methodist Church, Friday, July 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will occur at Manchester Cemetery immediately following the service. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.Gerald V. Knote was born on May 21, 1923, in Baker, North Dakota to Orville and Nora Knote. He attended High School at Agriculture High School in Maddock, ND. He met Helen Riggin and married her on March 7, 1943 in Brinsmaid, ND. They farmed in North Dakota until 1955 when they moved to Great Falls. He was employed by Sletten Construction Company and enjoyed a productive career until his retirement in 1985.He was a member of Westside Methodist Church, the Treasurer for the Kings Hill Methodist camp, a member of the Eagles and Good Sams RV Club. He spent his free time playing cards, travelling in his RV, and enjoying the company of his family. He and Helen also enjoyed various bus tours throughout the country.He is survived by his wife Helen Knote of Great Falls; son Clifford Kip Knote of Somers, MT; daughters Beverly Mader of Shepard, MT, Marilyn Grismer of Ulm, MT, Charyl Knote, Donette Mader, Leann Larson, and Rhea Harthun all of Great Falls; sisters Norma Swanson of Fargo, ND, Noreen Miller and Deloris Bergen both of Washington; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter.He was preceded in death by one son Jerald Keith and two brothers Wayne Knote and Donald Knote.Condolences may be left for the family at www.schniderfuneralhome.com
