Gerald Golie

Gerald Steven Golie passed away peacefully on April 12, 2016 in Great Falls. He lived a full and colorful life of 62 years.Per his request, there will be no services. A private burial of ashes has taken place at Mount Olivet Cemetery at the grave of his parents. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Schnider Funeral Home.Gerald was born in Great Falls, Montana on November 19, 1953 to Marian and Donald Golie. He attended Our Lady of Lourdes grade school and graduated from Great Falls High School. He worked many years at the west side Safeway Food Store in Great Falls until hiring on as a maintenance worker with Burlington Northern. He worked across the state until retiring with a disability.Gerald (his friends were allowed to call him Jerry) enjoyed playing poker and pinochle, especially with his family at holiday occasions, where he usually won and wouldnt let his brothers forget it. He enjoyed fishing, when they were biting, but no other time.He had a wit to him that was unmatched by anyone. He had a heart of gold and would do anything for his friends and family. His friends and family will miss him.Gerald is survived by his twin brother, George (Vicki) of Helena and his older brother, Duane (Char) of Sun Prairie; nieces Lisa Stelling of Missoula and Sarah (Sean) Ibsen of Great Falls; nephews Wesley (Aisha) Golie of Missoula, Clinton and Mickie Golie both of Great Falls.He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Marian; maternal grandparents, Anna and Mathias Guza; paternal grandparents, Lucille and George Golie; and baby Golie.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, 1305 5th Ave S, Great Falls, MT 59405 or Peace Hospice, 1101 26th St S, Great Falls, MT 59405.
