George J. Goyette, 86, of Great Falls, a World War II United States Army veteran and retired hardware foreman for Montana Hardware and a laborer at United Prestress died of Parkinsons disease on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at a local nursing home.Funeral services will be held at Great Falls Christian Center on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with a reception immediately following the service. Inurnment at Hillside Cemetery in Cascade will follow the reception. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.George was born on September 12, 1925 in Vancouver, Washington to George and Alma Goyette.He graduated from Cascade High School.In 1946, George married Margaret Howerton.George served in the U.S. Army during WWII.He was honorably discharged in 1946 and then attended the University of Montana.George was an avid sports fan and enjoyed Grizzly football, golf and basketball. George is survived by his wife Margaret B. Goyette of Great Falls; a daughter, Alma Sharette of Great Falls; sons Danny (Audrey) Goyette of Great Falls, Steven Goyette of Missoula, MT and Larry (Michele) Goyette of Conrad, MT; a sister, Ethel (Erwin) Byrnes of Missoula, MT; a brother, Ed Goyette of Forsyth, MT; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and close family friend, Mickey Walker of Great Falls.Memorials are suggested to Shodair Hospital, 840 Helena Ave., Helena, MT 59601 or to any charity to benefit children.
