George E. Holzheimer Sr.

December 10, 1929 — June 30, 2016

George E. Holzheimer Sr., 86, of Great Falls, passed away at the Ruby House on Thursday, June 30, 2016.The family would like to greet friends at Schnider Funeral Home on Saturday, July 2, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m for a visitation. Funeral service will be Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel with entombment to follow at Hillcrest Lawn Mausoleum. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.George was born on December 10, 1929 in Great Falls, Montana to Earl and Margaret Holzheimer. His early years were spent in Neihart, until the family moved to Great Falls. He started as a long haul truck driver driving to Alaska on the Alaskan Road. He worked construction at various places all over Montana as an oiler for the cranes that were used for construction. After he retired, he started providing lawn service in the summer and snow plowing in the winter.He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting and fishing. He made fishing lures and looked forward to going to Tiber to Walleye fish. He also enjoyed going to car dealerships to drink coffee and possibly make a deal on a car.George is survived by his wife, Esther; sons George (Gail) Holzheimer Jr. and Steve (Colleen) Holzheimer both of Great Falls; daughters Susan Tonne and Marcee Mizenko both of Great Falls; seven grandchildren, Heather (Randy) Burcham, Heidi Wadsworth, Lisa (Tucker) Tuss, Brett (Jill) Tonne, Michael Mizenko, Nicole (Joe) Luckman, and Shana Holzheimer; and ten great-grandchildren with another one on the way.He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Myron Holzheimer; and sister Ramona Anderson.In lieu of flowers, donations in Georges name can be made to Peace Hospice, 1101 26th St. S, Great Falls, MT 59405, or charity of the donors choice.The family would like to thank Robin Fleek and the staff at the Ruby House for their compassion and care.
