Gary Medean, 72, of Great Falls, died of natural causes on March 9, 2018. Gary is survived by his wife of 47 years, Faith Medean; daughter Kristy (Tim) Fox of Salt Lake City, Utah; son Rob Medean of Great Falls, MT and Robert Doughtyof Tulsa, OK; sister Sue Medean of Great Falls, MT; grandchildren Ryan, Ashlyn, Riley and Charlie; and a life-long friend, Dave West. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Dorothy and Pete Medean of Great Falls. Gary was born on April 25, 1945 in Merced, CA. He graduated from Great Falls High School in 1963. Gary joined the Air National Guard in 1964 and was a proud veteran and a true patriot his entire life.He also worked for Anaconda Mining Company, Advanced Litho Printing, but served the US Postal Service until retirement on April Fool’s day in 2001. Gary was a family man and a loving father. He enjoyed spending time with his four grandchildren. Gary greatly loved (more than most people) his two Pomeranians, Quincy and Peanut. Over the years, Gary was active in the NRA and a lifetime member of the Eagles. Gary greatly admired John Wayne, the actor, and often referred to him as “God.” His family and friends will always remember him as a man who antagonized others, always with humor in mind. He was outspoken about politics, loved Trump as president, and was a proud Montanan.He was an avid bowler for many years. He enjoyed socializing and spending time at The Maverick, The Red Door, Ace’s Tavern, and the Gold Dust Saloon. He frequented Borries, and loved to eat tenderloin steak. Gary enjoyed hot spices and always carried a shaker of habanero pepper in his pocket. Gary requested not to have a funeral, but will be remembered with a celebration of life on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. at the Gold Dust, 770 6th St. SW in Great Falls.
