Gary Duane Jakle, 87, of Great Falls, died at home after a long battle with bladder cancer. At his request, no services are planned. The son of William “Bill” and Virginia Jakle, Gary was born March 26, 1935, in Tacoma, Washington. He was raised and educated in the Puget Sound area. Gary joined the U.S. Air Force shortly after graduating from high school where he became a fighter aircraft jet engine mechanic. He met his wife Stella when he was stationed at Lakenheath AFB, England. They married and boarded a transport ship and headed for New York City. When they arrived, they got on his motorcycle and drove to Seattle, Washington. Over the next few years, they had three children and traveled all over the world while he served in the Air Force. His last base of assignment was Malmstrom AFB where he and the family fell in love with Montana. After he retired from the AF, he was a Master Automotive Mechanic for City Chevrolet and Bennett Pontiac for quite a few years. Gary loved hunting and fishing with his sons and friends throughout the years. His passion in his later years was fishing for Walleye. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; sisters; sister in-law; and a granddaughter. If you wish, please donate to St Jude Children’s Hospital.
