Gail A. Clingingsmith, a beloved wife, mother, and community member, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2025, in Great Falls, Montana. Born on February 16, 1929, to Joe and Edna Pilgrim, Gail lived a full and vibrant life, marked by dedication to her family, unyielding work ethic, and a passion for cards, puzzles, and dancing. Raised in a close-knit farming community, Gail developed a keen understanding of farm operations and took pride in her role as a farmer's wife.

Gail married her first husband Melvin Doornek in May of 1951. Gail was widowed with five children when she met and married Eugene Clingingsmith in 1956. Eugene and Gail had three children together, Linda, Larry, and Renee. Eugene adopted Richard, Tom, Karen, Keith, and Daryl. Eugene and Gail made their home on the family farm east of Vida, eventually moving to Glendive to run a trailer court and farm implement dealership.

Gail nursed both her husband Eugene and their son Larry until they passed. Along the way she was a significant help in caring for her in-laws (Earl, Myrtle, William, and Everett). In 2023, Gail moved to Great Falls where she enjoyed weekly family dinners and outings. She liked family visiting, especially with her sister Carol. Oh, the stories they would tell!!

Gail was preceded in death by husband, Eugene; her son, Larry; her parents, Joe and Edna Pilgrim; sisters, Lois, Denyse, Marilyn, Julia, and Jeannie; brother, Gary; and son-in-law, Bruce Lillejord. She is survived by her seven children, Richard (Maryann) Clingingsmith, Tom (Jolynn) Clingingsmith, Karen (Rick) Berg, Keith Clingingsmith, Daryl (Darcy) Clingingsmith, Linda (William) Short, and Renee Lillejord. Gail is also survived by her sister, Carol (Red) Nelson of Shelby; and her brother, Joe Pilgrim of Idaho; plus many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews. Cremation has taken place. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no services. Her ashes will be buried next to Eugene and her son, Larry, in Dawson Memorial Cemetery, Glendive.
