Fredrick G Fred Olson, 74, passed away at home in the early morning on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 from a severe heart attack. At his request no funeral services will be held. In lieu of funeral services a celebration of his life will be held at 20 Wilson Butte Rd, Great Falls on September 15th at 1:00 pm. Cremation has taken place.Fred was born in Belt, MT on March 25, 1939 and grew up on a ranch in the Highwood Mountains. When he was a young boy he would walk for miles with his dog and his gun exploring. He graduated from Belt Valley High School in 1957 and then joined the Air National Guard and was honorably discharged on February 7, 1963. He worked for The Boeing Co. as a dispatcher from 19631965 at which time he was transferred to Sidney NE. In 1965 he wanted to come back to Montana and his mountains and began working for Montana Flour Co (which eventually became Cereal Foods) and retired as head millwright in 2001.In 1960 he married the love of his life Janet Gedrose. He was an amazingly talented mechanic who was passionate about working on and restoring his beloved classic cars and snowmobiles. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman who enjoyed riding his 4-wheeler and motorcycle in the mountains.Fred is survived by his wife; daughter Tonie Williams (Kevin) of Denver, CO; son Tim Olson of Moline, IL; grandsons, Devin Williams, Eric and Aidan Olson along with several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Margaret Olson.
