Fred William Schultz, 62, the office manager for the Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks and retired USAF veteran of Great Falls, died on Monday, November 14, 2011 at his home of multiple myeloma.Visitation will be at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Tuesday, November 22, 2011, one hour prior to the vigil service at 7:00 p.m.His funeral liturgy will also be at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.Private inurnment will take place in Mount Olivet Cemetery with military honors.Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.Fred was born January 16, 1949 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was raised in Beaver Dam, WI.He married Cynthia Covell in 1978 in Great Falls.Fred graduated from the College of Great Falls with his BA in accounting in 1991.Fred was enlisted in the USAF for 22 years as a chaplains assistant, reaching the rank of SMsgt.He was stationed around the world, including two tours at Malmstrom AFB.He retired in 1990 from Offutt AFB, NE and moved his family to Great Falls.In May of 1991, he began his second career with Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks as the Region 4 office manager.He thoroughly enjoyed his job and considered all of his co-workers extended members of his family.Fred was an active member of his church, a regular Eucharistic minister at 4:30 mass on Saturdays.When his children were younger, he coached them in little league, flag football and basketball.Fred was the consummate Green Bay Packer fan and a loyal Griz fan.He loved to fish and hunt.He looked forward to golf season every year where you would see him Saturday and Sunday mornings with his golf partner, Jack.Fred was a helluva softball player!He was always a homerun threat when he came to the plate.Freds love of the game created some life long friendships in Great Falls.He was most proud of his three children and the adults they have become.Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Schultz of Great Falls; daughter Rebecca Margery Schultz of Great Falls; sons Nathan William Schultz and Christopher David Schultz, both of Great Falls; his mother, Lorraine Schultz of Wisconsin; sisters Mari Lynn Griepentrog and Mary Lou Sorgent and brothers Jerome Schultz and Joseph Schultz, all of Wisconsin.The family suggests memorials to Holy Spirit Catholic Church Memorial Garden, 201 44th St S, Great Falls, MT 59405.
