Fred Finneman, 95, of Great Falls, passed away on June 18, 2014.A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 23, 2014 at First English Lutheran Church. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.Fred was born on August 31, 1918 in Martin, North Dakota to Peter and Emma Finneman. He was educated at the White School and High School in Martin. He entered the U.S. Army in 1943 and served in the infantry in the invasion of France during WWII. His campaigns included Normandy, Northern France and Central Europe. Upon his return, he worked on the Civilian Conservation Corp between 1936 and 1937. He worked as a clerk for the W.P.A. until 1941. Fred then moved to Great Falls where he worked for the Great Northern Railroad until 1958. He also worked for the Great Falls Sporting Goods store for 22 years, retiring in 1980.He was a life member of the VFW 1087 and a member of the First English Lutheran Church.Fred is survived by his wife of 48 years, Amanda; daughter Bonnie (Chuck) Garus; grandchildren Laurie (Dana) Mann of Boise, ID and Troy (Debbi) Kempf of Denver, CO; three great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Justin, and Cody; three great-great grandchildren, Karlie, Parker, and Sophia; brother, Lester Finneman of Great Falls; sisters Hazel Smith of Minot, ND and Darlene Shaw of Columbia, MO.In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial be made to Peace Hospice, 1101 26th St S, Great Falls, MT 59405.
