Floyd Joe Fisher, 82, a retired first engineer for Great Falls "public" Schools and U.S. Air Force veteran of Great Falls, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at Peace Hospice of natural causes.The family would like to greet friends and family at Schnider Funeral Home on Friday, February 24, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Viewing will take place at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel on Saturday, February 25, 2012 one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. funeral service. Burial with military honors will follow in Highland Cemetery.Floyd Joe Fisher was born on April 28, 1929 and raised in Columbus, Ohio to George Milton and Nellie (Eseman) Fisher. He joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Great Falls on Gore Hill as a fireman. Following his discharge he worked as a window glazer and helped to install the windows in Deaconess Hospital.He married Dimitra Bobokas on July 27, 1954 in Choteau, Montana. He worked as a 1st engineer for the Great Falls "public" Schools for many years. Floyd Joe loved hunting, camping, fishing, restoring his 1928 Model A and 1953 Chevy truck, and his faithful companion Griz. Survivors include daughters Cathy Schoenthal and Cyrilla Carper both of Great Falls; two step daughters, Judy Manning and Pam Peterson of Montana; ten grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews in Ohio.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dimitra Fisher; grandson Jeff Maning; step son-in-law Ron Manning and his 11 brothers and sisters.
