Ethel Louise Mang (DeSilva), 87, of Great Falls, passed away Tuesday October 22, 2013 of natural causes at Peace Hospice.A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 27, at Fairfield United Church of Christ with burial to follow at Sunset Cemetery in Fairfield. Schnider Funeral Home of Great Falls is handling arrangements.Ethel Mang was born June 6, 1926 in Sunburst, Montana, to Dwight and Priscilla DeSilva. She graduated from Simms High School. After graduation she worked in Great Falls for a local doctor and waited for her husband, F. Quentin Mang to return from WWII. They were married on April 18, 1945.Together they farmed near Greenfield School on the Fairfield bench for more than 60 years. Neighbors, friends and family often visited the farm and Ethel enjoyed hosting her guests. She worked hard in her yard and derived a great amount of pleasure watching her children and grandchildren grow to love the farm as much as she did. She was a beautiful seamstress. She also worked on the farm, driving equipment and working the cattle.She cared for her husband through years of illness and they loved each other deeply.Ethel was an active member of the United Church of Christ of Fairfield, MT and a member of the womens fellowship.She is survived by her son, Darwin Q. Mang of Great Falls; granddaughters Heather Gurnsey of Helena and Heidi Fishell of Plentywood; sisters-in-law Joyce Cantrill of Spokane and Florence DeSilva of Olympia, WA; a sister, Priscilla DeSilva of Helena; six grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, F. Quentin Mang; daughter Dianne Loreen Mang-Gurnsey; sister Darleene Cook; brothers Bob DeSilva and Don DeSilva; her parents; and her lifelong best friend, Janet Lambert.Memorials are suggested to Peace Hospice, 1101 26th St S., Great Falls, MT 59405 or to an organization of the donors choice.Condolences for the family may be posted online at www.schniderfuneralhome.com.
