Elsie G. Thompson, 92, of Billings and former resident of Great Falls, died of natural causes Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Mission Ridge Retirement Village.A small memorial service took place in the chapel at Mission Ridge Retirement Village and another memorial service will take place with burial at Manchester Cemetery in Great Falls at a later date. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.Surviving Elsie are daughters Carolyn Vodicka of Billings and Sandra (Zeke) Zook of Honolulu, HI; sons John (Pam) Thompson Jr. of Frisco, TX; David (Lynn) Thompson of Helena, Bradley (Rhonda) Thompson of Chandler, AZ; Sam (Judy) Peters of Layton, UT; brother Albert Koval of Mascotte, FL; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.Elsie was preceded in death by her husband John R Thompson, Sr. and son Robert (Bob) Thompson.Elsie G. Thompson was born October 23, 1923, in Lehigh, MT the daughter of Jozef and Mary (Prusak) Koval. She was raised near Windham and graduated from Windham High School and Montana Tech where she graduated with an Associate of Science in Nursing.She married John R Thompson Sr. September 8, 1945 in Utah and moved to East Gary, Indiana until returning to Great Falls, Montana in 1958. She went to work at Deaconess Hospital in 1969 and worked there as a nursing assistant retiring in 1988.Elsie was a Sunday school teacher at the First Presbyterian Church in Great Falls, Girl Scout Leader, and Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, Past Worthy Matron of Helen C Roberts, Chapter No.71 of OES and a member of Sapphira Temple No. 79 Daughters of the Nile.The family suggests memorials to the Shriners Hospital 911 W. 5th Ave., Spokane, WA 99204, the Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch, 1732 S 72nd St W, Billings, MT 59106 or charity of donors choice.
