A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, Elizabeth A. Betty (Thompson) Fayden, 88, of Great Falls, passed away Monday, June 27, 2016.Betty was born April 1, 1928, to Frank E. and Mary Claire (Crowley) Thompson. She received her education at St. Charles High School in Minnesota. She married Bill Fayden on May 28, 1949 in Boulder, MT. After their marriage, they moved to Helena and Libby, MT before returning to Great Falls to raise their 10 children.She was member of St. Josephs Catholic Church, Sweet Adelines International for over 12 years, Red Hat Lady Society, Moose Club, and chairman of the voting precincts Knights of Columbus hall for over 30 years. She also was on the board of directors of the Head Start program in Great Falls for several years. Betty loved to sing, dance, and socialize with friends and neighbors. She was truly grateful and appreciative of her church family, Knights of Columbus members, neighbors and friends for all they did for her and the Fayden family over the years.Betty is survived by her daughters, Mary (Dan) McCroskey of Anacortes, WA, Carol Buffum of Great Falls, Valerie (Bob Allen) Carr of Vancouver, WA and Coleen (Jim) Middleton of Carnation, WA; sons James Fayden and Steven (Leann) Fayden both of Kenmore, WA, David (Jean) Fayden of Great Falls, Douglas (Celia) Fayden of Fairfax, VA, and Donald Fayden of Kenmore, WA; brother Frank Rooney Thompson Jr. of Great Falls; sister Mary Claire Krause of Cokato, MN; 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, William Bill Fayden; son Michael Mick Fayden; son-in-law Bill Buffum; granddaughter Candi Garrity; parents; sister Dorothy Gedrasik; and brother John Jack Thompson.A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Schnider Funeral Home. A vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel. A funeral liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 15, 2016 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church followed by burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
