Edwin Tollefsrud

Edwin N. Tollefsrud, 86, of Great Falls, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017.Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 23, 2017 followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. both at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Immediately after the service burial will be at Highland Cemetery. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.Edwin was born on November 15, 1930 to parents Ole and Bergit Tollefsrud in Bowman, ND. He was raised on the family farm until age 18, when he joined the Navy. He attended Nebo Elementary School from September 1937 to June 1945. He joined the Navy on August 10, 1949. He served almost four years on minesweepers. He was discharged in the spring of 1953. He worked for the NP Railroad for a short while then went to work for Miles City Electric Co in Miles City, MT. There he met and married the love of his life Dorothy Hansen. A year later he enrolled into a technical school in Kansas City, MO. After graduation, he went to work for and made a career with the FAA as an electronic technician. He retired in 1984 after 30 years of government service. Before and after retirement he and Dorothy owned and operated a small ranch near Fort Shaw, MT raising Angus cattle.He was preceded in death by his parents; nine siblings; and a son, Rory.He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; daughter Cindy (Jim) Forseth; three grandkids; and one great-grandson.
