Edward Ed William Kyler, 64, of Cascade, a local rancher, died of a heart attack at his home on March 26, 2012.A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 30, 2012 at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel with burial to follow at St. Peters Mission Cemetery.Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. On Monday, March 26, 2012 we lost Ed Kyler, a beloved husband, father, friend and child of God.Born and raised in the Boulder Valley, Ed went to college at the University of Montana where his true passions were horses, rodeo and the soon-to-be Mary Kyler.Ed and Mary bred their first horse together the year before they wed and for over 40 years the good Lord allowed them to follow their dreams. Ed and Mary moved to Cascade in the fall of 1973.Ed truly loved and would do anything for his family, which for Ed included more than just blood relatives, but friends as well.He loved his land and horses with a passion you could only understand if you knew Ed well and worked alongside him. From trying to wear his spurs onto an airplane or working the new colts in the round pen, Ed was a cowboy through and through. He only seemed to relax when he was on the back of a horse. He was a simple and strong man.Ed loved his wife, his kids and had a weakness for his grand kids. They would melt his heart with a look and he would do anything for them, especially if it involved getting them on a horse.Above all, Ed was a Christian! He loved God and took serious his charge to serve other people. He had a heart bigger than the land he loved and leaves a hole that will never be filled. We thank the Lord for every day that we had with Ed and look forward to seeing him again in eternity.Ed is survived by his wife Mary Kyler of Cascade; sons Ryan (Katie) Kyler of Seattle, WA and Will (Stacey) Kyler of Golden, CO; sisters Sharon Trott of Billings, Beverly Brown of Clovis, CA and Catherine West of Helena; a brother, Kenneth E. Kyler of Helena and three grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations can be made to the Great Falls Rescue Mission in Eds Honor.
