Edward “Ed” Lloyd Atkinson passed away December 6th from complications of a stroke. Ed was born to Harry and Ellen (Maki) Atkinson in Belt, MT, on February 12, 1932. They lived there before moving to Great Falls. He graduated from Great Falls High in 1951 and joined the army as a lineman. He served 2 years in Korea, was honorably discharged, and served 6 years in active reserve. Ed began a sheet metal apprenticeship with Edwin Johnson. Once a journeyman, he worked for, Reber, Hodges, Tucker, Steve’s, and Falls. In 1966, he met and married Carol Sue Wright. They had two children, Kathy (Donnie) Vincent and Kenny (Becky) Atkinson. Ed leaves behind his wife, daughter, and son; grandchildren Kody Wiltbank, Dawson Vincent, and twins Abbigail and Kole Atkinson; many nieces and nephews; and our extended family – The Stukeys. He was preceded in death by his mother; father; stepfather; brothers Larry, Darrell, Russell, and Dale; and sister Marie Williamson. Ed served as a 4-H leader and belonged to the Elks, Eagles, and VFW. He lived a full life; enjoying his family, camping, fishing, hunting, bowling, gardening, building in his wood shop, and socializing at the Vets. You’ve left a “big hole” in our lives; we love you and will miss you so much. “RIP,” Ed!
