Edna A. (Brekkestran) Stark, 85, a retired waitress of Great Falls, died on Friday, September 7, 2012 of natural causes at a local care facility.A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 14, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at The Lodge Retirement Center.A private family service has all ready taken place.Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.Edna A. (Brekkestran) Stark was born August 27, 1927 to Carl and Anne Brekkestran in Waite Park, Minnesota. She attended school in St. Cloud, Minnesota, but left school at the age of 16 after the death of her mother, to help raise her three younger siblings.Edna was working in St. Cloud when she met Walter Stark and they were married in October of 1949. They were married for 59 years. Walters job with the railroad took them to Spokane, WA, Klamath Falls, OR and Finally to Havre, MT. Walter passed away in December of 2008 in Great Falls, Montana.She worked for 30 years at the 4Bs restaurant in Havre before retiring.Edna was active in St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Havre and enjoyed singing in the church choir.Edna also enjoyed gardening, playing pinochle and other card games. She loved spending time with family and friends. In 2006, medical issues made it necessary for Walt and Edna to relocate to Great Falls.They made many good friends at their new home in The Lodge Retirement Center.They were so thankful for the outstanding care and support they received from the staff and management at the Lodge.Her last few months were spent at the Renaissance Senior Living Facility, where she also received excellent care.Edna is survived by her son, Dewey Stark and his wife Bobbi of Great Falls; daughter, Pamela Stark and partner Bob Good of Seattle, Washington; sisters June Kirkland of North Carolina and Nancy Brandt of Minnesota; brother Allen Brekkestran of North Dakota; and a special caregiver, Kerry Bronson of Great Falls.She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter J.
