Edith James, 85, of #1 Prospect Dr, died on April 9, 2016.Visitation will be at Schnider Funeral Home on Sunday, April 24, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Her funeral service will be at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.Edith was born on August 25, 1930 to J.U. and Emma Manley of Montague, MT. She graduated from Geraldine High School. She worked in Great Falls upon graduation and met her future husband in Fort Benton. She married Dudley James on May 4, 1951. She was a homemaker while her children were young. She worked for H&R Block after her children graduated.She was a 4H leader, teaching sewing to numerous teenagers. She was also a State Fair judge for the 4H. She was active in Shrine activities, assisting her husband at various events, most notably the Shriners Children Hospital.Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Lynne James; and a daughter, Sandy Whitehead of Phoenix, AZ; sister Bessie (Ed) Hodan of Sacramento, CA; grandchildren, Susan Blackwell (Eric McClure), Adam Blackwell (wife Jessica) and Tyler Blackwell (wife Hallie), Adrienne, Bethany, Natasha, Joshua and Joey Whitehead, and Mary Waldroff of Helena; and four great grandchildren, Nathan, Taylor, Andrew and Watson.She was preceded in death by her husband, Dudley in 2008, a daughter, Karen Waldroff, four brothers, and two sisters.We would very much like to thank Azalea Place, which provided her wonderful comfort and care during the last years of her life and Peace Hospice of Montana.The family suggests memorials to Peace Hospice of Montana, 1101 26th St. S., Great Falls, MT 59405 and Azalea Place, #1 Prospect Dr, Great Falls, MT 59405.
