Edith Marie (Cofer) Evanson, 86, of Great Falls, died of natural causes Saturday, August 25, 2012 at a local care facility.Funeral services will be held at St. John Lutheran Church on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. Pastor Steve Nelson officiating with a reception immediately following at the church. Burial will take place at Highland Cemetery. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.Edith was born in Watervalley, Mississippi May 13, 1926 where she was the youngest of seven children. She and her family later moved to Memphis, Tennessee where she later met and married the love of her life, Marine, Gene Cofer October 29, 1948. They moved to Portland, Oregon, later taking their family to Bakersfield, California before settling in Great Falls in 1971.Gene passed away in 1991. She later married Glen Evanson in 1993. He passed away in 2000.She loved her home, family, friends, and her church where she sang in the choir. She was on the church council and was an active, loving member of St. Johns. She loved to play Pinochle, was active in Garden Club, and loved to dog sit for friends and oh, how all of the dogs loved her. She will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew her.She is survived by a son, Steve (Carolyn) Cofer of Lancaster, CA; daughters, Connie Graff of Twin Falls, ID, Karen (Ken) Haggart of Great Falls, and Pattie (Dave) Johnson of Belgrade, MT.Edith was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Gene Cofer, and Glen Evanson.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Johns Lutheran Church, 5300 9th Ave S, Great Falls, MT 59405.Condolences may be left for the family at www.schniderfuneralhome.com.
