Edith Emogene (Altenburg) Arthur, 84, of Great Falls, a retired restaurant operator and cook, died on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at Peace Hospice of natural causes. A memorial service will be at First Alliance Church on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.Edie was born October 29, 1927 to Orville and Alice (Davis) Altenburg in Sanborn, North Dakota. She attended Sanborn High School. Edith married Lyle Arthur on October 26, 1951 in Miles City, Montana. They celebrated 60 years together last year. Edie and Lyle enjoyed square dancing for many years. She was a devoted wife and mother.Edie worked in and operated restaurants in Circle and Winnett, MT. She also cooked for the Winnett "public" Schools. After moving to Great Falls, she worked for Charlottes Web and Kickers Grill. Edie loved to sew, knit, crochet, and bake. People came from miles around to enjoy her cooking and baking.She is survived by her husband Lyle Arthur of Great Falls; sister Zella Severson of Longmont, CO; sons and daughters-in-law, Butch and Phyllis Arthur ofWinnett, Keith and Kim Arthur of Great Falls, and Dan and Haeran Arthur of Great Falls; grandchildren, Brandon (Tisha) Arthur of Laurel, MT, Shannon Stegal and Sheri Carrington of Hawaii, Aaron (Amber) Arthur of Miles City, Amy (Jay) Forsman of Great Falls, Adam (Shy) Arthur of Billings, Jung Ah and You bin Arthur of Great Falls, and five great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Betty Phalzer; her brother James O. Altenburg, and her grandson Bradley Arthur.
