Ed Maierle, age 100, entered into the arms of his Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 25, 2021. His life’s journey to his eternal home was an amazingly remarkable one. Our dear father was a loving, caring, dedicated, and strongly principled man. He set an example for all of us in his passion of loving God first, loving his family second, and loving his country third. He proudly served his country in WWII as a member of a US Navy torpedo bomber squardron stationed at Pearl Harbor after the attack on our democracy. He often shared the story of being ordered to dive into the oil infested waters of Pearl Harbor to attach a chain to retrieve a sunken B-24 sea plane. His desire to live a life of humble service to others continued later in his life as he and his wife, Mary Alice, started a nursing home ministry in the Helena area. They were recognized for their 24 years of service by their local church for sharing the love of Jesus, reading the Scriptures, and singing hymns. Their strong faith in the Lord was the foundation on which they lived their lives. He was a hard worker and was very successful in building a life insurance practice from scratch, earning numerous industry awards. In May of 2021, he was honored in the U.S. Senate’s Congressional Record for his service to our country during WWII. As such, he was recognized as Montanan of the Month. This past June, he accomplished yet another goal as we celebrated his 100th birthday party, surrounded by family and friends. One of the highlights was a visit by military personnel from the Vigilantes of the 120th Airlift Wing of the Air National Guard. He epitomized the heart of a veteran, whose selfless service must not be forgotten. Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice; and his granddaughter, Kelly Stoick. Survivors include his 3 children, Jan Stoick of Great Falls, Vicki (Randy) Foss of Goodyear, AZ, and Mick (Kate) Maierle of Bozeman; 7 grandchildren, Matt (Shawn) Maierle, Cristi (Jeremy) Cooper, Erin (Joe) Penberthy, Josh Maierle, Brian (Anna) Stoick, Charlie (Sadie) McNeil, and Maya Maierle. He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren. His memorial service will be held at Emmanuel Bible Church in Great Falls on Monday, December 20, 2021, at 4:00 p.m.
