Dwight D. “Rusty” Moldenhauer, 73, of Great Falls, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2018 of natural causes. A celebration of life luncheon will be held Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Schnider Funeral Home Hospitality Room, 1510 13th St S. All who knew Rusty or wish to support the family are welcome to attend. Rusty was born August 1, 1944 to Lucas and Hulda Moldenhauer on the family farm in McIntosh County, North Dakota. Rusty married El Kaseman on April 14, 1968. They later divorced in 1992. His only son, Deon, was born November 16, 1976. Rusty moved from Ashley North Dakota in 1972 to Great Falls, Montana and worked over 40 years as a mechanic in all avenues of machinery including small engines, diesel engines, and gas vehicles. Rusty was the first in history of the John Deere Company at the time to make the green book award in 6 weeks for mechanic excellence. Rusty had a passion for Ford vehicles and restored a 1984 T-Bird for his son, Deon, from the wheels up in his own garage. In 1998 Deon, Rusty, and Veronica took this T-Bird to the Lewistown drag races and won, finishing undefeated. Rusty enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, camping, and mini golf with his family and friends. He was frequently with his brothers, Dennis, LaMont, Jerry, and Donovan who lived in Great Falls as family was important to him. Rusty always made time to stop in on his grandson’s birthdays, Dawson and Austin Moldenhauer. He is survived by his son Deon Moldenhauer; daughter-in-law Veronica Moldenhauer; grandsons Dawson and Austin Moldenhauer; ex-wife El Moldenhauer; brothers Curtis, LaMont, and Jerry; sisters Grace, Jacqueline, Gloria, and Fern. He is preceded in death by his parents Lucas and Hulda; brothers Vernon, Myron, Dennis, and Donovan; and sisters Angela, Mavis, Deborah, and Phyllis.
