Dr. Elton Joe Adams, 74, of Great Falls, passed away doing what he loves, climbing, on February 4, 2018. A memorial service for family and close friends will be at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel, 1410 13th St. S on Friday, February 9, 2018. Everyone is welcome to a reception at 3:00 p.m. at the Heritage Inn, 1700 Fox Farm Rd. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Elton was born on August 25, 1943 in Billings, Montana to Albert and Esther Adams. He grew up in Winnett, Montana and graduated from Winnett High School. Elton went on to the University of Montana and received a bachelor degree in Psychology. He attended Medical School in Utah and completed his Residency in Tucson, Arizona with the University of Arizona. Continuing his education he did a Fellowship at the University of Utah in Rheumatology. Elton met and married his wife, Marie in 1970. They had two sons, Kevin and Ryan. The Adam’s family lived in Missoula six years before making Great Falls their home. His passions were his work, climbing, art and his patients. Another great passion of his was cheering on the Griz at the football games. Survived by his wife, Marie Nieves Adams of Great Falls, MT; sons Kevin Joe Adams of Boise, ID and Ryan Scott Adams of Dallas, TX; grandchildren Asa and Bailey Adams of Boise, ID; great-grandson Kalani Adams of Boise, ID; and brothers Duane (Katy) Adams of Arlington, VA and Denis (Lynn) of Worden, MT. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert N. Adams and Esther Scherlie Adams. Donations in Elton’s name can be made to the University of Montana.
