Dorothy Jean Chambers) Steichen, 93, a retired retail clerk of Great Falls, died of heart failure on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at a local hospital.A service is planned later in the spring. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.Dorothy was born November 22, 1918 in Dent, Minnesota to Ingor and Jessie Chambers.Dorothy married Harlan Clapshaw in July,1937 in Dent, MN, they later divorced. She married Milo Steichen in November,1958 in Great Falls, MT. Dorothy worked several years at Columbus Hospital and then as a retail clerk at Sears & Roebuck for twenty years until retiring.When Dorothy retired, she and her husband Milo became snow birds and spent winter months in Yuma, AZ. Milo and Dorothy enjoyed Yuma for over twenty-five years before settling back in Montana, splitting their time between Great Falls and their cabin in Monarch. Our mother enjoyed the company of her family visiting in the mountains together.Dorothy was a wonderful mother who taught us all the greatest lessons in lifethe value of hard work, honesty, love and above allhow to forgive. We love her dearly and will miss her every day.Dorothy is survived by her husband Milo of Great Falls; her daughters, Cheryl Lewis of LaPine, OR and Jeanelle Bosecker of West Hills, CA; son, Eugene Clapshaw of Seattle, WA; step-children, Terry Steichen of Portland, OR, Brenda Burns of Memphis, TN, Craig Steichen and Steven Steichen both of Great Falls. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, fourteen step-grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and fourteen step-great-grandchildren.She was preceeded in death by her sons, Gary Clapshaw and Robert Clapshaw and by a granddaughter Shelly Mahoney.Condolences for the family may be left at www.schniderfuneralhome.com.
