Dorothy May Schmidt

Dorothy May Schmidt, 78, of Great Falls, passed away Monday, November 6, 2017. No services are planned. Cremation will take place through Schnider Funeral Home. Dorothy was born on November 26, 1938 in Stockett , Montana to John and Georgina (Pistoria) Jones. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Dorothy was a member and past president and secretary of the Montana Cowgirl Association and was inducted into the MT Cowgirl Hall of Fame. She was also a board member of IPM, and member of the Rainbow Garden Club and City Council #2. She was an avid Bingo player, and enjoyed playing cards, coloring, and doing puzzles with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Tammy (Bart) Elliott of Lame Deer and Kathy (Steve) Steffenson of Great Falls; sons Donald Schmidt Jr. and Dewey (Sheryl) Schmidt both of Great Falls; brother Thom (Jean) Jones of Great Falls; grandchildren Angie, Charity, and Travis Schmidt, Nick (Sara) Sowers, Casey (Aimee) Steffenson and Randy (Lacey) Steffenson, Ernie (Jen) Schmidt and Traci Schmidt; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Don “Otto” Schmidt; and sisters Beverly Wolf and Clara Brodeur.
