Dorothy Jean Holman

November 25, 1922 — April 21, 2022

Dorothy Jean Holman, aged 99 years and 5 months, passed away from natural causes in the early hours of Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022, at Peace Hospice of Montana in Great Falls. She passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family. Per her request, there will be no services, but the family will gather at a later date for the interment of her ashes in her hometown of Harrington, WA. Dorothy was born on November 25, 1922, in Spokane WA to Attie L. and Anna L. Turner. She was a graduate of Harrington High School in the class of 1940 and attended the State College of Washington from 1941 to 1942 then transferred to the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in speech on June 23, 1945. During Dorothy’s academic years, she always maintained honor roll status throughout high school and college. Dorothy was heavily involved in speech and performed in many theatre productions in college. Dorothy became a fourth-grade teacher in Spokane, WA where through family friends, she met and married Homer Holman. Together they made their home in Great Falls, MT and raised five children. Dorothy went on to be an owner/manager of The Travel Center, while Homer continued to own and operate Holman Aviation. Throughout their lives, Dorothy and Homer traveled extensively to many states and countries around the world. Some of Dorothy’s adventures included receiving her student pilot certificate and completing her first solo flight on August 27, 1970. Dorothy was active in and a long-standing member of PEO, Jr. League, and the Meadow Lark Country Club. Dorothy’s glamorous sense of style and quick-witted sense of humor will be greatly missed. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Homer; sister, Louise Pierce; and granddaughter, Sara Holman. She is survived by her daughters, Sherrie (Ted) Higgins of Sun City West AZ and Beryl Nyce of Redway CA; sons, Robbie (Mary) Holman of Kalispell MT, Randy (Lorraine) Holman of Great Falls MT, and Dwight (Debbie) Holman of Great Falls MT; and 8 grandchildren as well as numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. We would like to acknowledge and thank Dorothy’s special caregivers Diana, Jennifer, Vanessa, Leoda, Carla, and Mary Ann, and the wonderful staff at Peace Hospice of Great Falls. Condolences for the family may be shared online at www.SchniderFuneralHome.com.
