Dorothy Marie Creveling, 84, of Cascade, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Peace Hospice in Great Falls, Montana. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Hillside Cemetery in Cascade. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Community United Methodist Church of Cascade with a reception following at the Wedsworth Hall also in Cascade. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.Dorothy was born April 2, 1931 in Richland, Montana to Earl and Mildred Nelson and was the second of eleven children. She was raised in the Glasgow area graduating from Glasgow High School in 1949. She married Jack Creveling on September 22, 1951 in Great Falls. They made their home in Cascade but shared a lifelong passion for world travel. By 1962, three children rounded out their family.Dorothy was a hard worker always looking for an adventure. She was a devoted Christian, a loving wife and mother and held various positions in the community. For several years, she held the title of the Honorable Judge for the town of Cascade, she worked as a telephone operator, Notary "public", flagger on road construction, sales clerk at The Paris, writer for the Cascade Courier, cook and waitress at various restaurants, and worked for several doctors in the Great Falls area. After more than 20 years of dutiful service as custodian of the United States Post Office in Cascade, she turned in her uniform to care for her husband, Jack.Dorothy was a strong member of the American Legion in Cascade and traveled many miles representing the Womens Auxiliary as well as serving as a Chaplin.She loved and was loved deeply by her three children, Debra (Joel) Banham of Plains, MT, Bruce (Tracy) Creveling and Keith (Shellie) Creveling both of Cascade, MT; brother Robert Bud Nelson; five sisters, Violet Hill, Lillian Thatcher, Barbara Zighera, Donna Joseph and Wanda Clark; 10 grandchildren, Sarah, Seth, Abigail, Amos, Naomi, Jeramiah, Joshua, Stephanie, Christine, Katherine; 10 great grandchildren, Samuel, Hannah, Grace, Eziekel, Ellie, Leah, Anna, Rebekah, Elizabeth and Dayton.Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack whom she was married to for almost 60 years; three sisters, Ramona Plunkett, Lee Becker, and Emilie Kottsick; and brother Albert Nelson.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dorothys name to the Peace Hospice House in Great Falls, 1101 26th St. S, Great Falls, MT 59405, to honor the amazingly compassionate care they provided for our whole family.
