Donna Wingard

Donna Wingard passed away of natural causes on May 5, 2017.Donna Smith was born in Havre in November 1934, the youngest of eleven. She married Roger Wingard in March 1955. They owned Wingards Upholstery shop in Conrad until 1972, when the family moved to Cheyenne WY for a new career. They moved many times between 1972 and 2000, as part of that career. They settled in Kennewick WA when Roger retired from his job with Boeing to enjoy bowling, golf, and casino time together.Donna volunteered at the Senior Center teaching exercise classes and helping seniors with their taxes. Roger passed away in 2003, and Donna moved back to Montana to be closer to her children and grandchildren.Donna was extremely proud of being a member of the scratch 600 bowling club, a score she accomplished many times. The last time she bowled was the city bowling tournament at the age of 76, where she won her division with a final game of 205. She was a frustrated golfer but scored a hole in one of which we were very proud. She excelled at being a stay-at-home mom and housewife. She pinched pennies and made fun for her family out of the simple things in life; boating, camping, golf, garage sales, and rousing games of marbles.Donna was diagnosed with Alzheimers Disease in 2011 and resided at the Beehive until her death. We are so grateful to their caring staff, and Peace Hospice. Contributions to the Alzheimer's Association in her honor will be helpful in saving others from this lonely, frightening illness, and assist their families in navigating the difficulties of this disease.Mom, you are free now and are singing the phrase of your favorite song, that lucky old sun who has nothing to do but roll around heaven all day. We will always treasure the depth of your love, and the great role models you and Dad provided.Donna was preceded in death by her parents; siblings; her husband, Roger; daughter Joddie Ann Zuroff and daughter-in-law Cayle Wingard.She is survived by her son Mike Wingard of Helena; daughter Debbie Erwin (Steve) of Great Falls; son Pat Wingard of Mandan, North Dakota; former daughter-in-law, Loretta Wingard of Grayling, Michigan; grandchildren Jori Nebel (Bob), Austin Erwin, Emily Wingard, Boomer Wingard, Kristina Zuroff, and Nicholas Zuroff; and a great-granddaughter, Elliott Nebel, who she adored. No services are planned.
