Donn Wimmer

Donn Braden Wimmer, 86, of Great Falls, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2014.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Sunrise Presbyterian Church. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.Donn was born on October 14, 1927 in Pittsburg, Kansas to Archie and Dessie Mary (Braden) Wimmer. He grew up in Liberal, Missouri and graduated with a Bachelors and Masters degree in Physics from the University of Kansas. Donn served in the United States Army in Korea just prior to the Korean War. Donn married Norma Jean Stockebrand in 1949 in Fort Scott, Kansas. After 50 years in Bartlesville, OK, they moved to Great Falls, MT in 2002 to be closer to family.He was a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers, an active member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Bartlesville, OK, and later a member of the Sunrise Presbyterian Church in Great Falls.Donn is survived by his wife, Norma of Great Falls; son David (Jan) Wimmer of Columbus, MS; daughters Nancy (Bob) Maynard of Great Falls and Carol (Jack) Coats of Ashland City, TN; grandchildren Kate (Cory) Kalanick of Denver, CO, Stacy Maynard of Madison, WI, Jessica (Kris) Mullinax of Frostburg, MD, Amanda (Walter) Carpenter of Hattiesburg, MS, Bonnie (Will) Bray of Olive Branch, MS, Andrew Coats of Somerville, MA and Ruth Coats of Clarksville, TN; and two nephews.He was preceded in death by his sister.In lieu of flowers, memorials in Donns name may be made to the Sunrise Presbyterian Church for Missions, 3809 6th Ave. S, Great Falls, MT 59405.
