Donald E. Northaus

April 23, 1941 — June 22, 2022

Donald E. Northaus, age 81, passed away peacefully, and on his terms, on Friday, July 22, 2022, at Peace Hospice in Great Falls. Cremation has taken place under the care of Schnider Funeral Home. No services are planned per Don’s request. Donald was born on April 23, 1941, in Cuba City, Wisconsin to Ervin and Evelyn (Bertjens) Northaus. He is survived by his four children, Denise (Richard) Schmidt, Dan Northaus, Donita (Chris) Linford, and Dana DeMers. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Elaine Brogley; and a brother, Francis Northaus. After serving in the Army National Guard, Don was employed as a truck driver, and a very skilled and meticulous carpenter in his working years. In his retirement, he was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener, knife sharpener, and fixer or builder of all things. He was known for his famous homemade horseradish, homemade Schnapps, as well as various canned goods and fresh veggies that he supplied to his friends and family. He was also known for his extremely sharp knives that left many seeking a band aid. He was a lifetime, proud member of the NRA. Although a very private and quiet man, he made friends easily with those who he deemed trustworthy. Thank you to all his “friends.” Donations in his name may be made to Peace Hospice or the NRA.
