Donald Eugene Henen, 80, of Great Falls, a registered land surveyor, died on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at a local hospital, following a short illness.A private family service and burial of ashes will be held at a later date.Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.Donald was born September 30, 1932 in Great Falls, Montana, where he was raised and educated.He graduated from Saint Marys High School in 1950 and attended the Highway Department School of Land Surveying in Great Falls from 1950 until 1952.He married Marjorie Erdman in Great Falls in 1951.He was employed with Henen Engineering with his father from 1953 until 1981.He was then owner and operator of Henen Land Surveying from 1981 until his death.In 1983, his son Michael joined the company.They worked together until his death.Donald was elected County Surveyor for three terms; board member of State of Montana Professional Land Surveyors and Engineers National Society of Professional Surveyors; member of Montana Association of Reg. Surveyors; honorary member of Knights of Columbus; volunteer at St. Peter and Paul; and past president of Great Falls Central HS Round Table.He enjoyed camping, boating, skiing, travel, spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.Donald was survived by his wife, Marjorie (Erdman) Henen of Great Falls; daughters Pearl (Vince) Konesky of Surprise, AZ, Valerie (Mark) Cooper of Great Falls, and Vickie (Doug) Darko of Great Falls; son Michael (Joyce Traxel) Henen of Great Falls; five grandchildren, Erin Wombold, Sean Darko, Jared Meeks, Tyler Meeks and Taylor Henen; six great grandchildren, Wade Wombold, Mackenzie Wombold, Preston Darko, Kallie Darko, Isaiah Maxwell and Olivia Meeks; and his family dog, Griz.He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward J. Henen and Ellen E.
