Derald Dean Guilbert

Derald Guilbert, 86, of Great Falls, passed away March 17, 2018. A funeral liturgy will be held Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 201 44th St S, Great Falls. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Derald was born September 2, 1931 in Hansboro, ND. He graduated from North Dakota State School for the Deaf in Devil's Lake, ND in 1950. He worked as a linotype operator for a total of 25 years, 11 of those years at the Great Falls Tribune. He also worked for the Great Falls Public School system as a custodian for 17 years. He was an active member of the Great Falls Club of the Deaf, Montana Association of the Deaf and the Elks Lodge. Derald enjoyed fishing, hunting, carpentry, gardening, playing cards and had a good sense of humor. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Alice; daughter Gisele (Steve) Nicolai of Dayton, OH; son Galen (Pauline) Guilbert of San Leandro, CA; sister Doreen Hendrickson; brother Danny Guilbert; and 6 grandchildren, Austin, Erin, Holden, Ryan, Marco and Luca. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Montana Association of the Deaf; MSDB Foundation; or Peace Hospice of Great Falls.
